Early Career and Norwegian League
Ronny Johnsen, a Norwegian footballer, began his career as a defender in the Norwegian lower leagues. He played for Stokke and AIK Tønsberg before joining the top-flight club Lyn Oslo in 1991. In 1994, he moved to Lillestrøm.
European Success with Manchester United
The following year, Johnsen embarked on a successful European journey, joining Turkish club Beşiktaş. In the 1996/97 season, he made a significant transfer to Manchester United. He made 150 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 9 goals. During his tenure, the team won four Premier League titles (1996/97, 1998/99, 1999/2000, and 2000/2001), as well as the FA Cup, Champions League, and Intercontinental Cup in 1999.
Later Career in England and Norway
In 2002, Johnsen moved to Aston Villa, and two years later, he joined Newcastle United. However, he only played three league games for the Magpies. After the 2003/04 season, he announced his retirement but briefly returned to play for Vålerenga Oslo a year later.
International Career
From 1991 to 2004, Johnsen made 61 appearances and scored 3 goals for the Norwegian national team. He represented his country at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.
