Roy Ayers, an outstanding musician and talented composer, was born on September 10, 1940, in Los Angeles. Growing up in a family of musicians, he started playing instruments at the age of five and continued to do so with passion throughout his life.

Ayers grew up in the South Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, also known as the Black Music Scene. He attended Wadsworth Elementary, Nevins Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson High School, where he further honed his musical skills.

By the 1970s, Roy Ayers had already gained popularity as a funk, soul, and jazz performer, with his compositions becoming hits. In 1976, he released his best-known hit, "Running Away," which appeared on the album "A Shining Symbol." Many years later, in October 2004, this famous composition resurfaced in the popular video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."

In 1977, Ayers played a pivotal role in the release of the album "Come Into Knowledge" by the group RAMP, which left a lasting impression on fans. In the early 1980s, he continued collaborating with various artists, including vocalist Sylvia Striplin, whose album "Give Me Your Love" showcased Ayers' talent.
