Biography of Roy Brocksmith
Roy Brocksmith was an American actor born in 1945 in Quincy, Illinois to Vera Marguerit and Otis E. Brocksmith. He began his career at the age of three, singing at a local bar called 'Hap Kuhl's Tavern'. He soon started performing his own concerts at local schools and churches, and regularly appeared on television screens. At the age of 16, he became the director of a children's theater, and two years later, he married his girlfriend Adele Albright. They had one son, Blake, born in 1966.

Education and Early Career
After finishing high school, Brocksmith attended three colleges: Hannibal LaGrange Junior College, Culver-Stockton College, and Quincy University, which he graduated from in 1970. During his time in college, Brocksmith became the director of Pragressive Playhouse and founded the Great River Theater Workshop.

Moving to New York and Broadway Success
In 1969, Brocksmith moved to New York with his family. While working as a librarian at the Lilliam Morgan Hetrick Medical Library, he struggled to make ends meet while rehearsing for theater productions. However, everything changed when he landed a role in the musical 'Stingiest Man in Town', based on Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'. The production also featured renowned actor John Carradine.

Brocksmith made his Broadway debut in Joseph Papp's production of 'The Leaf People'. Over the next few years, he participated in numerous productions, including 'Herr Tartüff', 'Stages', and 'Threepenny Opera'. He also performed in off-Broadway shows such as 'In the Jungle of Cities', 'Dr. Salavy's Magic Theater', 'Polly', and 'The Beggar's Opera'.
Television and Film Career
Brocksmith appeared on television as both an actor and presenter. In 1988, he starred in the film 'Big Business' directed by Jim Abrahams. In 1990, he landed a role in the action film 'Total Recall', where he acted alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rachel Ticotin. The film was directed by Paul Verhoeven. In total, Brocksmith appeared in over 60 films and TV shows, as well as numerous stage productions.
Later Years and Legacy
During the peak of his career, Brocksmith faced kidney problems caused by diabetes. Sadly, on December 16, 2001, he passed away at the age of 56. He left behind a legacy of his versatile talent and contributions to both stage and screen.
