Early Life and Education
Born in Ukraine, Ruslan Khomchak graduated from the Moscow Higher Military Command School and served in the former German Democratic Republic and the Belarusian Military District.
Military Career
24th Mechanized BrigadeKhomchak served in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade for seven years, eventually becoming its Chief of Staff.
300th Mechanized Regiment and 72nd Mechanized Brigade
He was the commander of the 300th Separate Mechanized Regiment in Chernivtsi for four years and, in 2005, took command of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
8th Army Corps and 6th Army Corps
From 2009, Khomchak served as Chief of Staff of the 8th Army Corps. In 2012, he was appointed commander of the 6th Army Corps, which was later reorganized into the Southern Operational Command in 2013.
War in Eastern Ukraine
During the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, Khomchak commanded the "B" Sector.
Chief of General Staff
In 2016, he became Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. In 2019, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Khomchak as the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
