Political Career

From 1964 to 1983, Abdurakhman Gaippov held the prestigious position of First Secretary of the Kashkadarya Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan.

Suicide and Investigation

Gaippov's life took a tragic turn when he committed suicide by inflicting 17 stab wounds on himself. His death occurred while he was under investigation as part of the infamous "Uzbek Case," led by investigator Telman Gdlyan. The investigation centered around alleged abuses of power and corruption.

Public Scrutiny

Gaippov's suicide gained widespread attention in May 1989 when Olga Chaikovskaya's article "Myth" was published in the "Literaturnaya Gazeta." The article exposed the abuses of the Gdlyan group and mentioned Gaippov alongside Davidov, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, who had allegedly shot himself in the head with three gunshots.

Fate of Gaippov's Sons

After the collapse of the USSR, Gaippov's sons, who had been convicted and jailed for rape and robbery, were released from prison. Subsequently, they secured influential positions within the Uzbek government.
