Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont
Early LifePrince Georg Victor of Waldeck and Pyrmont was born into a noble family in Germany. His father, George II, ruled as the Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont, while his mother, Emma of Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym, was a princess from the House of Anhalt-Bernburg.
Accession to the Throne
Upon the death of his father in 1845, Georg Victor inherited the principality of Waldeck and Pyrmont. However, due to his young age, his mother served as regent until he reached the age of majority.
Marriages and Children
Georg Victor married twice. His first wife, Princess Helena of Nassau, was the daughter of Duke William of Nassau and Duchess Pauline of Württemberg. They had seven children together.
In 1891, Georg Victor remarried Princess Louise of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg. Their union produced one son, Prince Friedrich, who died in action during World War I.
Death
Prince Georg Victor of Waldeck and Pyrmont died on May 12, 1893, in Mariánské Lázně, Bohemia, after a bout of pneumonia. He was 68 years old and left behind a legacy as a devoted ruler and a loving father.
