Early Life and FamilyRyan Anthony Guzman was born on September 21, 1987, in Abilene, Texas to parents Ray Guzman and Lisa Anne. His father is of Mexican descent, while his mother has German, French, Swedish, English, and Dutch ancestry. Despite his predominantly Mexican heritage, Guzman often faces the misconception of being white. He proudly embraces his Mexican roots, recognizing the passion and loyalty that characterize Latin culture.
Aspiring Athlete
Guzman's childhood was filled with music, salsa, and a vibrant family atmosphere. He attended West Campus High School, where he played baseball with dreams of becoming a Major League pitcher. However, a tragic arm injury put an end to his baseball aspirations.
Undeterred, Guzman turned to mixed martial arts, earning a black belt in taekwondo at a young age. He even relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a mixed martial artist. Fate, however, had other plans for the young athlete.
Modeling and Acting
A chance encounter with a modeling agent led Guzman into the world of fashion. He quickly became a sought-after model, posing for prominent brands such as Calvin Klein, Gillette, and Reebok. His striking physique and captivating smile made him an instant success in the industry.
Guzman's modeling success sparked an interest in acting. He enrolled in acting classes and sought representation. In 2012, he landed his first major role in the dance franchise "Step Up Revolution." Shortly after, he joined the cast of the television series "Cameras."
Breakthrough in "Step Up" and Film Career
Guzman's portrayal of Sean Asa in "Step Up: All In" showcased his athleticism and dance abilities. He returned to the "Step Up" franchise for its fourth installment, "Step Up 4: Miami Heat."
