Ryan James Kesler
Ryan James Kesler was born on August 31, 1984, in Livonia, Michigan. He is an American professional ice hockey player who has played his entire five-year career in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Vancouver Canucks.
Early Career
Kesler began playing hockey at a young age and honed his skills playing for his father's team in Livonia. He idolized NHL player Mike Modano and credits his older brother for helping him break into the world of competitive hockey. Despite facing rejections from major teams, Kesler persevered and eventually made it to the big leagues.
During his time in high school, Kesler played for the junior team as part of the national program. He then received a sports scholarship and played for the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he excelled. He was named to the All-Rookie Team and was awarded Rookie of the Week three times and Rookie of the Month once.
In addition to his collegiate career, Kesler also played for the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League (AHL) and even earned a spot in the AHL All-Star Game.
International Success
Kesler represented the United States on numerous occasions in international competitions. He won gold at the U18 World Championship and the World Junior Championship. He also participated in the U-17 World Championship and brought home another gold medal.
Personal Life
During the hockey season, Kesler and his wife Andrea live near Vancouver in Kitsilano with their three dogs. They return to Livonia during the offseason. The couple has a daughter named Makayla Rylan Kesler, who was born in May 2008.
Kesler is known for his love of the game and enjoys driving his Ford Mustang. Throughout his career, he has proudly represented the United States on various international ice hockey arenas.
In recent years, Kesler has established himself as one of the best two-way forwards in the country. He was even considered for the Olympic team in 2010. Despite facing challenges and setbacks, Kesler's passion for the game continues to drive him towards success.
