Albert Dwayne Roloson, known as Dwayne Roloson, is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on October 12, 1969, in Simcoe, Ontario. Standing at 185 cm tall and weighing 81 kg, Roloson plays as a goaltender and wears the number '30'.

Early Career:
Dwayne Roloson played for the University of Lowell's ice hockey team during his college years. In 1994, he signed a contract with the Calgary Flames without being drafted by the NHL. He spent some time playing for both the Flames and their AHL affiliate, the Saint John Flames. Roloson was later traded to the Buffalo Sabres as part of a deal involving Czech goaltender Dominik Hasek, also known as the 'Dominator'. In 2000, he was supposed to join the Columbus Blue Jackets, but instead signed a contract with the Worcester IceCats in the AHL.

NHL Career:
In 2001, Roloson made another attempt to break into the NHL by joining the Minnesota Wild. During the 2002-03 season, Roloson shared goaltending duties with Manny Fernandez. Despite being 34 years old, Roloson earned the opportunity to participate in the 2004 NHL All-Star Game as a member of the Eastern Conference team. He also received the annual Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award for his outstanding performance in the NHL, with a save percentage of .933% in a minimum of 25 games.

During the NHL lockout in the 2004-05 season, Roloson played for Lukko in the Finnish professional league before returning to the Minnesota Wild after the lockout ended. On March 8, 2006, Roloson was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. Despite criticism from the team's general manager for acquiring Roloson, his sensational goaltending helped the Oilers reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006. However, in the first game of the finals against the Carolina Hurricanes, Roloson suffered a severe knee injury and elbow injury, preventing him from playing further. The Oilers lost to the Hurricanes in seven games. Roloson required a month of intensive therapy to recover.

In July 2006, the Oilers extended Roloson's contract for three years, despite his age. The 2007-08 season was unsuccessful for Roloson, and in the 2008-09 season, the Oilers' head coach constantly changed their three goaltenders due to dissatisfaction with the team's performance. However, when Mathieu Garon was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Roloson became the oldest goaltender to play over 60 games in a season. International Career:
Roloson represented Team Canada in the 2007 IIHF World Championship held in Moscow, where Canada became the champion by defeating Finland 4-2. In the next World Championship, held in Canada, the Canadian team lost to Russia 2-1 in the final, despite Roloson's excellent defense, and became the silver medalist.

Current Career:
In 2009, Roloson signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the New York Islanders. On November 23, 2009, he set a career record by stopping 58 out of 61 shots. Roloson is the only goaltender in the NHL over 40 years old.

Dwayne Roloson is married to his wife Melissa, and they have two sons, Brett and Ross. He is left-handed and wears contact lenses. The St. Paul Police Department honored Roloson with the title of Honorary Police Officer for his assistance and support.
