Early Life and Education
Sahar Nasr was born in 1964. In 1985, she graduated from the American University in Cairo with a degree in economics. She subsequently earned a master's degree in 1990.
Early Career
From 1993 to 1995, Nasr worked at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. She then joined Arthur Andersen as the Chief Economist for a privatization project from 1995 to 1996.
Academia
From 2002 to 2011, Nasr taught economics at the British and American University in Egypt as an Associate Professor.
World Bank
Nasr's career at the World Bank spanned from 1996 to 2014. She held various roles, including Lead Specialist, Chief Economist, Coordinator, and Regional Director.
Political Career
In 2015, Nasr was appointed Egypt's Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, a position she held until 2019. During her tenure, she met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to attract investments to Egypt.
Ministry of International Cooperation
In December 2019, the investment functions of the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation were transferred to Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Nasr's ministry was renamed the Ministry of International Cooperation.
Achievements
As Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Nasr's efforts were instrumental in promoting Egypt as an attractive investment destination. She also played a key role in strengthening Egypt's international relations.
