Samantha Pejek was born on December 14, 1991, in McCordsville, Indiana. She comes from a family of athletes; her mother was a successful gymnast, and her father was a wrestler and hockey player. Both parents attended the University of Illinois and excelled in their respective sports. Pejek is the oldest daughter in the family, and her younger sister is also a promising gymnast.

In 2007, Pejek was named Athlete of the Year and received the prestigious title of TOPs Athlete of the Year. That same year, she participated in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and competed in the Pan American Games.
