Early Life and Education

Georg Friedrich Wilhelm Hegel was born on August 27, 1770, in Stuttgart, Germany. He studied theology at the University of Jena, graduating in 1793.

Teaching Career

Hegel began his teaching career as a private tutor in Bern, Switzerland. In 1798, he returned to Jena as a professor of theology. He held this position until 1806, when he moved to Bamberg as rector of the gymnasium.

Philosophical Works

Hegel's philosophical writings began with his 1794 work "Attempt at a Justification of Natural Religion". In 1803, he published "System of Theological Morality". His most famous work, "The Phenomenology of Spirit", was published in 1807.

Later Life and Death

In 1818, Hegel became professor of philosophy at the University of Berlin, where he remained until his death in 1831. He died of cholera on November 14, 1831, at the age of 61.

Legacy

Hegel's philosophy had a profound impact on Western thought. He is considered one of the most important figures in the history of philosophy. His ideas on history, the state, and morality continue to be debated and discussed by philosophers today.
