Early Life and Education
Sani Hajiev was born on October 2, 1964, in Narimanli, Basarkechar region, Azerbaijan. He completed his secondary education at School No. 19 in Baku in 1981.
In the same year, Hajiev enrolled in the History Faculty of Baku State University. Upon graduating in 1986, he was assigned to teach at School No. 3 in Kelbajar.
Academic and Research Career
In 1988, Hajiev joined the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences as a senior researcher. From 1990 onwards, he held a similar position at Baku State University's Department of History of Asian and African Countries.
From 1993 to 1996, Hajiev pursued his postgraduate studies at Baku State University. In 1996, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Turco-Russian Relations and Armenian Terrorism during World War I."
University Positions
Hajiev became a lecturer at the Department of History of Asian and African Countries in 1996 and an associate professor in 2000. He was appointed deputy dean in the same year.
In 2005, Hajiev was elected as the Dean of the History Faculty at Baku State University. He defended his habilitation thesis in 2007, earning the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences.
Research Interests and Contributions
Hajiev's research focuses primarily on terrorism in modern Turkey. His doctoral thesis examined "Armenian Terrorism and PKK Terrorism against Turkey in the 20th Century."
