Early Life and Education
Kazakhstan statesman and politician Imanghali Tasmagambetov was born on June 10, 1949, in the "New Path" sovkhoz in the Chu district of the Zhambyl region. In 1971, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Economics and Statistics.
Career in Statistics
After graduating, Tasmagambetov worked in various positions within the Central Statistical Office (CSO) of the Kazakh SSR, including economist, senior economist, deputy head, head of department, and head of the Department of Agricultural Statistics. From 1985 to 1987, he attended the Academy of National Economy.
Government Roles
In 1987, Tasmagambetov was appointed Deputy Head of the CSO of the Kazakh SSR, and later Deputy Chairman of the State Statistics Committee of the Kazakh SSR. From 1991 to 1994, he served as Deputy Chairman of the State Property Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
State Property
From October 1994 to March 1995, Tasmagambetov held the position of Chairman of the State Property Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In March 1995, he was appointed Chairman of the State Committee for Management of State Property of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Political Career
In 1997, Tasmagambetov became Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He was then appointed Akim (Governor) of the Zhambyl region in 1998. From 1999 to 2002, he served as Head of the Administration of the President, followed by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration from 2002 to 2003.
Anti-Corruption and Presidential Affairs
From 2003 to 2004 and again from 2008 to 2011, Tasmagambetov worked as Managing Director of the Presidential Affairs. From 2004 to 2008, he was Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Combating Economic and Corruption Crime (Financial Police).
Later Years
In April 2011, Tasmagambetov became Director of the State Presidential Residences Directorate of the Presidential Affairs Administration. He passed away on July 27, 2012, in Astana after a prolonged illness.
