Monkey Attack in India

A 60-year-old woman in India has tragically lost her life after being attacked by a group of monkeys. The incident occurred in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, where Savitri Devi was sitting on her rooftop terrace with her daughter-in-law. As they attempted to flee the wrath of the enraged animals, the terrified women fell from the terrace. While Devi succumbed to her injuries on the spot, Renu was hospitalized.

Deadly Encounter in Agra

Just months prior to this fatal attack, monkeys had left another woman in the northern Indian city of Agra fighting for her life. Sanjul Pandey was reportedly enjoying solitude in a field outside her home when the primates viciously attacked her at around 11:30 pm. Family members rushed her to a medical clinic but were unable to save her due to excessive blood loss. The incident sparked protests among locals who voiced their outrage against the authorities.

Protection Laws Hamper Control

Under India's Wildlife Protection Act, monkeys are strictly protected. Their removal, capture, sterilization, or destruction is prohibited by law. The loss of Pandey's life followed another tragic incident where a 12-day-old baby was fatally bitten by a monkey. The animal had entered their home in a suburb of Agra while the infant's mother, Neha, was breastfeeding. The father attempted to pursue the animal with the help of others, but it unfortunately dropped the baby on the roof of a nearby house, resulting in the baby's untimely demise.
