Biography of Skylar Fisk

American actress and singer-songwriter Skylar Fisk is best known for her role in the 1996 family drama film "My Friend Joe". This European film won numerous awards at various film festivals, and Skylar herself was selected as the "Best Actor" by the children's jury at the Polish Film Festival in 1998.

Early Life

Skylar Elizabeth Fisk was born on July 8, 1982, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of actress Sissy Spacek and production designer Jack Fisk. After spending a short period of time in Los Angeles, Skylar moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia.

Acting Career

Skylar began pursuing acting in school plays as a child, eventually making her way into the film industry. Her first theatrical role was as a bee in the production of "Charlotte's Web". In sixth grade, she landed the lead role in the musical "Annie". Skylar made her film debut in 1995, playing the character Christy Thomas in the family comedy "The Babysitter's Club".

One of Skylar's most memorable roles was a supporting role in the teen comedy "Orange County" in 2002, starring Colin Hanks and Jack Black. In terms of television, Skylar appeared in an episode of the series "One Tree Hill" in 2005, playing the character Dakota Green. She also had a guest appearance as Ella Christiansen in an episode titled "Taboo" in the popular series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in 2006.

Music Career

In addition to acting, Skylar is also a talented musician. She plays the guitar, a skill she learned from her mother. She signed a recording contract with Universal Records as a folk musician. Skylar recorded a demo tape with American singer-songwriter Joshua Radin, and they toured together for the past two years. In 2006, the creative duo wrote a song called "Paperweight", which was featured in the romantic comedy "The Last Kiss" starring Zach Braff and Jacinda Barrett. Another one of her songs, "It's Not Her", was featured in the comedy film "Snow Day".

Skylar's plans to release an EP were revised in favor of releasing a full-length album, with a tentative release date set for no earlier than 2009.

Recent Work

Skylar's recent acting projects include playing the role of Cecilia in the drama film "American Gun", Tori in the short film "The Locrian Mode", and Jill in the romantic comedy "I'm Reed Fish" directed by Zachary Adler.

Applesky Handbag Line

In collaboration with her business partner and friend Leslie Appleyard, Skylar launched her own line of handbags called "Applesky".
