Early Passion for Coin CollectingScott Barman's fascination with coins emerged at a tender age of 10 when he filled his father's blue collection folders with loose change. As a newspaper delivery boy in Inglewood, Long Island, he continued to "plug holes in the blue folders with his tips." By his teenage years, Scott had amassed a modest collection from his allowance, with a particular fondness for coins commemorating the Bicentennial.
College and a Hiatus
Upon entering college, Scott temporarily set aside his coin collecting hobby to immerse himself in the academic life. However, his passion for numismatics rekindled later on. Despite filling albums with Roosevelt dimes, his interest remained casual for many years.
Rediscovering Numismatics
A profound personal loss sparked a renewed and deepened interest in coin collecting for Scott. He delved into the history and circulation of coinage, becoming a member of the Montgomery County Coin Club (founded in 1959) and its president in 2008.
Selective Collection
Over time, Scott refined his collecting focus, selling off his Barber dime collection due to waning interest. He also parted with his collection of Morgan dollars for not meeting his standards. His current collection consists primarily of 20th-century coins, with a particular fascination for numismatic items connected to Brooklyn and New York.
Coin Collectors Blog
In 2005, Scott Barman launched the Coin Collectors Blog, a platform for sharing insights, news, and information on the world of coin collecting. The blog has garnered recognition within the numismatic community, earning the Numismatic Literary Guild award for Best Blog in 2020.

Scott Barman has actively contributed to the numismatic field, serving as an editor for the "Guide Book of United States Coins" beginning in 2018. His expertise has elevated the level of knowledge and understanding within the numismatic community.
