Biography of Sean Parnell
Sean R. Parnell was born on November 19, 1962, in Hanford, California. He is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. Parnell served as the 12th Governor of Alaska, taking office after Sarah Palin's resignation on July 26, 2009.

Education
Parnell obtained his higher education at Pacific Lutheran University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1984. He later attended the University of Puget Sound School of Law, graduating in 1987.

Legal Career
After completing his legal studies, Parnell was admitted to the bar in both Alaska and Washington. He practiced law in both states before delving into politics.
Family Background
Parnell's father, Kevin Parnell, is the owner of a printing company in Anchorage and was a former Democratic representative for Alaska in the U.S. Congress.
Political Career
Parnell's career has seen a mix of political and corporate roles. He initially worked with the oil company ConocoPhillips, one of the largest firms in the industry. He later served as Deputy Director of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, focusing on oil and gas issues. During this time, he also ran for the position of Lieutenant Governor.
In 1992, Parnell was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives, where he served two terms and worked in the finance committee. He then moved on to the Alaska State Senate in 1996, where he was involved in the Energy Council and managed finance matters. Parnell briefly left politics to work in government relations for ConocoPhillips before joining the lobbying firm Patton Boggs in 2005. In 2007, he won the primary election for Lieutenant Governor as a Republican candidate and teamed up with Sarah Palin for the general election.
Governorship
Following Palin's resignation, Parnell became the 12th Governor of Alaska on July 26, 2009. He announced his intention to run for a full term as governor after completing Palin's term. Parnell served as governor until 2014.
