Semion Bender: Soviet Composer and World War II Veteran
Early Life and CareerSemion Davidovich Bender was born on September 28, 1898 (Old Style) in Nikolaev, Ukraine, to David Bender. In the 1920s, he met and married director Maria Vinogradova.
Film and Music
In the 1930s, Bender worked as a sound editor and composer for animated films at the Mezhrabpomfilm studio. His musical talents extended to composing scores for cartoons.
World War II Service
During World War II, Bender served in the military. For his contributions, he was awarded the Medal "For Combat Merit" (1943) and the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree (1945).
Post-War Career
After the war, Bender joined Soyuzmultfilm, where he continued to compose music for animated films. He passed away on April 6, 1968, at the age of 69.
