Serena Harriet Scott Thomas, an English film and television actress, was born on September 21, 1961, in Compton, a town in the Netherlands. Her mother, Deborah, grew up in Hong Kong, while her father, Simon Scott Thomas, was a pilot in the British Royal Air Force and died in a plane crash when Serena was three years old. Her younger sister, Christina Scott Thomas, also pursued a career as an actress.
Serena Scott Thomas was the niece of Sir Richard Thomas, an admiral in the British Royal Navy, and the great-niece of Robert F. Scott, the famous explorer who journeyed to the South Pole. Serena's education included attending a secondary school in England and then transferring to the "Three Day Eventing and Dressage" boarding school in the United States after moving there with her mother.
Early Career
Serena Scott Thomas started her acting career on television. In the early 1990s, she had minor roles in series such as "Poirot" and "She-Wolf of London." In 1991, she appeared in the film "Let Him Have It" and subsequently had several more television roles.
