Sergey Vladimirovich Banighe: Russian Architect and Engineer
Early Life and EducationSergey Vladimirovich Banighe was born in Russia and graduated from the Institute of Civil Engineers in 1889. His son, Vladimir, who was also a renowned architect, was born in 1905 and passed away in 1973.
Academic Career
Starting in 1890, Banighe served as a professor at the Institute of Civil Engineers. He also taught at various other institutions, including the School of Construction Surveyors, the Mining Institute, the Women's Polytechnic Courses, and the Academy of Arts (where he became a professor in 1919).
Architectural and Engineering Projects
Banighe's architectural and engineering expertise was evident in his role as architect for the Orphanage (from 1899 onwards) and for the Institute of Civil Engineers (from 1895 to 1921). He also worked as a technician for the City Council and as a member of the technical committee of the All-Union Institute of Municipal Engineering.
Later Years
In 1891, Banighe became an architect for the Ladies' Committee for Assistance to Prisons. His contributions to the field of architecture and engineering left a lasting legacy.
