Early Life and CollaborationsSergei Bratkov, a Ukranian artist and photographer, emerged as a prominent figure in the art world. In collaboration with B. Mikhailov and S. Solonsky, he co-founded the Fast Reaction Group (FRG), an artistic collective.
Gallery Establishment and Relocation
From 1993 to 1997, Bratkov established the "Apdaun" gallery in his Kharkiv studio. In 2000, he relocated to Moscow, where he resides and continues to create.
Moscow Exhibitions and Acclaim
In Moscow, Bratkov's early exhibitions, "Kids," "My Moscow," and "Seven," held at the Regina Gallery, garnered significant attention from both the public and critics.
International Recognition
Bratkov's work has been showcased at prestigious international exhibitions including the Venice Biennale (2005, 2007), the São Paulo Biennial (2002), and Manifesta (2004). In 2007, he represented Ukraine at the Venice Biennale.
Retrospective and Awards
A retrospective exhibition of Bratkov's work took place at the Winterthur Fotomuseum in Switzerland in 2008. He has also participated in the International Symposium of Contemporary Art, Biryuchiy. In 2010, he received the Grand Prize at the Fifth Annual All-Russian Innovation Prize for Contemporary Art for his video installation "Balaklava Kuryazh" at the Regina Gallery.
