Early Life and Education
Sergei Mikhailovich Koltakov was born on December 10, 1955 in Barnaul, Altai Krai, Russia. He began his acting studies at the Saratov Theater School in 1974, where he spent two years. In 1979, he graduated from the acting department of GITIS in Moscow, where he studied under the tutelage of Alexander Popov.
Theater Career
After graduating from GITIS, Koltakov joined the Moscow Mayakovsky Theater in 1979 and remained there for a year. In 1982, he moved to the Moscow Stanislavsky Drama Theater, where he performed until 1985. In 1989, he became a member of the troupe at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater.
