Early Life and Career
Viktor Chanov, a renowned Soviet and Ukrainian footballer, was born on 21 July, 1959. His journey began with the Nikolaev-based team "Sudostroitel". In 1977, he joined the prestigious Dynamo Kyiv, where he remained until 1980, making just one appearance for the team.
Career at FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk
In 1980, Chanov moved to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, where he would spend the majority of his career. As a skilled goalkeeper, he gained recognition for his outstanding performances, earning a place in the "33 Best Soviet Players" list twice, securing the number 3 spot in 1984 and 1985.
International Recognition
Chanov's exceptional talent extended beyond the domestic level. He represented the Soviet national team, contributing to their second-place finish at the UEFA European Championship in 1988.
Career in Ukraine and Russia
With the onset of the 1990s, Chanov moved to Israel, where he continued his playing career. He returned to Ukraine in 1994, where he capped off his playing career with the Zhytomyr-based club "Khimik".
Coaching Career
Chanov's expertise extended beyond the field. In 1995, he embarked on a coaching career, guiding clubs in both Ukraine and Russia. From 2007 to 2010, he took on the role of goalkeeper coach for his former club, Dynamo Kyiv.
