Biography of Sergei Petrov
Sergei Petrov was a renowned actor and People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1948). He was born on September 9 (21), 1895, in Perm, Russia. Petrov started his acting career in 1911 and joined the troupe under the direction of E.A. Mosolova in Tomsk. He later worked in Petrograd and played in theaters across Omsk, Vladivostok, and Chita until 1927. From 1927 to 1941, he performed in Odessa, and from 1941 to 1944, he acted in Saratov.

From 1944 to 1960, Petrov was a prominent actor at the Kiev Russian Theater named after Lesya Ukrainka. His performances were known for their restraint, profound psychological analysis, and meticulous role preparation. Some of his notable roles in the theater included Shmaga and Schastlivtsev in Ostrovsky's "Without Guilt" and "The Forest," Khlestakov in Gogol's "The Inspector General," Golokhvasty in Staritsky's "Chasing Two Hares," Svejk in the adaptation of Hasek's "The Good Soldier Schweik," Poleyzaev in Rahmanov's "Restless Old Age," Kostya-Kapitan in Pogodin's "The Aristocrats," Plyukhov in Romashov's "The Air Pie," Motylkov in Gusev's "Glory," Panin in Simonov's "Russian People," Xin Bin-u in Vsevolod Ivanov's "Armoured Train 14-69," Chizhik in Mdivani's "New Times," and Protasov in Gorky's "Children of the Sun," among others.

Petrov also appeared in several films, including "In Distant Voyage," "The Exploit of a Scout," "In Peaceful Days," "Ships Storm the Bastions," and more. He passed away on November 2, 1965, in Kiev, Ukraine.
