Biography of Sergey Protsiuk
Sergey Protsiuk is a former Soviet and Ukrainian football player and coach. He was born in 1965 and achieved the title of Master of Sports of the USSR. Sergey's father, Alexander, was also a football player.
Playing Career
Sergey Protsiuk began his career at the Kiev-based club "Dynamo". He was loaned out three times to other clubs, including Vinnytsia's "Niva" and Irpin's "Dynamo". Although he did not play in the USSR Championship for "Dynamo", he appeared in four matches in the Federation Cup. In 1987, after negotiations between the head of Odessa's "Chernomorets" and Valery Lobanovsky, Sergey transferred to Odessa's "Chernomorets", which competed in the first league. One of the determining factors for his choice was Sergey's desire to move further away from the Chernobyl accident, as he was concerned about the health of his wife and daughter.
In his first season with "Chernomorets", Protsiuk played in 21 matches and scored one goal. "Chernomorets" finished in first place and earned the right to participate in the top league. Sergey played 35 matches and scored three goals for "Chernomorets" in the championship. In 1990, he moved to Moscow's "Dynamo" at the invitation of Anatoly Byshovets. Sergey made his debut for the "blue and white" team on March 1st in a match against "Ararat" in the 1/8 finals of the USSR Cup. In total, he played 14 matches for "Dynamo" in various tournaments. In the 1990 season, he also became a bronze medalist of the championship.
In May 1991, Sergey, wanting to continue playing, joined "Tiligul". Together with the team, he won the right to play in the top league. However, in early 1992, it was decided not to hold a united championship for the CIS, and Protsiuk returned to "Chernomorets". In the first two seasons of the Ukrainian championship, he played in 26 matches and became a bronze medalist in 1993. In 1994, Protsiuk played for "Metallurg" from Novotroitsk.
After that, from 1994 to 1999, Sergey played for lower division clubs such as "Veres", Finnish club "KaIK", "Bukovina", and "Neftyanik" from Akhtyrka. After retiring from professional football, he became a coach. He worked at the youth sports school of Kiev's "Dynamo" and served as an assistant coach.
In 2011, Sergey Protsiuk became the head coach of the Moldovan club "Lokomotiv".
