Early Life and EducationSergei Sergeyevich Sekirinsky was born on an unspecified date. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Simferopol State University and pursued postgraduate studies at the Institute of History of the USSR at the USSR Academy of Sciences.
Academic Career
In 1984, Sekirinsky defended his PhD thesis at the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University. His groundbreaking doctoral dissertation, entitled "Russian Liberalism: From the 1840s to the 1880s (Ideas, People, Environment)", earned him a doctorate in 1999.
Teaching and Research
From 1982 onwards, Sekirinsky held teaching positions at various institutions, including the Moscow State Correspondence Pedagogical Institute, the Moscow Higher Party School, the Russian State Humanities University, and the State University for the Humanities. He received the title of Professor in 2004.
In 2004, Sekirinsky established the journal "Historian and Artist," which he edited until 2008. From 2011, he worked at the Center for the Study of Domestic Culture at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Editorial Work
Sekirinsky's editorial contributions were significant. From 1987 to 2011, he worked on the editorial board of the journal "History of the USSR" (later renamed "Otechestvennaya Istoriya" and "Rossiyskaya Istoriya"). In the spring of 2012, he was elected Editor-in-Chief of "Rossiyskaya Istoriya."
