Professional Football Career

Shahin Diniyev, a Soviet and Azerbaijani football player, played as a midfielder throughout his career. In 1984, he commenced his journey at "Avtomobilist" in Mingachevir. Subsequently, from 1985 to 1986, he represented "Gyanjlik" in Baku.

Soviet and International Successes

Diniyev briefly joined "Neftchi" in 1987 before moving to "Kyapaz" for the latter part of that season. He contributed one goal during his time with "Neftchi." After "Kyapaz," he played for various Soviet teams but did not establish long-term stays.

International Recognition

Diniyev represented the Azerbaijani national team from 1992 to 1996, amassing 16 appearances. His international career took him to Russia, where he represented "Terek" Grozny and, later, to Israel, where he played for "Beitar" Tel Aviv.

Coaching Career

Upon his retirement as a player in 1997 with "Baku Dynamo," Diniyev embarked on a coaching career. He initially led the Azerbaijani U-16 and U-18 national teams before taking the reins at "Shafa" Baku and "Terek" Grozny.

Success with "Karabakh"

Diniyev's most notable coaching success came with "Karabakh" Aghdam, where he guided the club to a bronze medal finish in the 2003-2004 season. However, he departed in April 2004.

Leading "Kyapaz" and the Azerbaijan National Team

After leading "Kyapaz" to a ninth-place finish in the 2004-2005 season, Diniyev became the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team in 2005. Due to the workload, he vacated his role at "Kyapaz."

Time with the National Team

Under Diniyev's guidance, the national team faced Ukraine, Turkey, and Moldova in friendly matches, securing a draw against Ukraine and Turkey. However, a heavy defeat to Ukraine in 2006 marked the end of his tenure. Notably, he introduced debutants and naturalized foreign players to the squad, including Leandro Gomes from Brazil.
