Sharon Day: A Promising American High Jumper
Early Life and Career:Sharon Day, an American track and field athlete, was born on June 9, 1985, in Costa Mesa, California. From a young age, she developed a passion for sports, particularly track and field. After graduating from High School Costa Mesa in 2002, Day pursued her athletic and academic journey at College Cal Poly-SLO. She excelled in both areas, graduating in 2008 with honors and recognition for her athletic prowess.
Athletic Achievements:
Day's early athletic accomplishments include winning a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in 2004. She also had notable performances at several other competitions, including the Atascadero All-Comers Championships, NCAA Outdoors, USA Junior, NCAA Indoors, Holiday Inn Invitational, and NCAA Outdoor.
Olympic Dreams:
After a period of redshirting in 2006, Day returned to competition in 2007. She had a successful season, placing second at the USA Outdoors, fourth at NCAA Outdoors, and sixth at the Pan An Games. Her consistent performances continued in 2008 when she earned third place at the Olympic Trials. This achievement qualified her for the US Olympic team at the 2008 Beijing Games.
