Early Life and Education

Shina Tosta was born on October 1, 1982, in Camden, New Jersey. She attended Garfield High School and later enrolled at UCLA, graduating in 2005 with honors and various athletic accolades.

Athletics Career

Tosta emerged as a rising star in track and field in 2004. She won the Olympic Trials and secured the 11th-fastest time in the world in the 400-meter hurdles. That year, she competed in the 2004 Athens Olympics, finishing fourth. Tosta also excelled in the NCAA, PAC 10, NCAA West Regionals, and NCAA Indoor competitions.

Continued Recognition

In 2005, Tosta placed fourth in the USA Outdoor Championships and triumphed in the Reebok Grand Prix. She also impressed in international competitions held in Rome, Helsinki, and other cities. The following year, she competed in the USA Outdoor Championships, placed third in Paris, and performed well in Athens, Ostrava, and Rieti.

Ascending to the Top

Tosta's career reached new heights in 2007. She earned the USA Outdoor title, became the Pan Am Games champion, and ranked fifth in the World Outdoors. She also claimed second place in the Nike Prefontaine Classic, first in Belém, and second in The Road to Eugene.
