Biography of Sherry Austin
Sherry Veronica Krenn, known as Sherry Austin, was born on August 28, 1970, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. At the age of fourteen, she first entered the music world, thanks to the influential 20th-century musician Johnny Cash. She later moved to the United States, where her acting career began. In America, Sherry is best known for her role as Pippa McKenna in the late 1980s TV series "The Facts of Life." However, it was in the 1990s that Austin's singing career truly took off.
The Colorhaus Duo
In her teenage years, Sherry was part of a duo called 'Colorhaus', with Phil Radford as her partner. After leaving the duo, Austin recorded one album in Australia and moved to the United States, aiming to pursue a professional singing career. Here, she released four albums, and several of her singles made it onto the country charts of the 'Billboard' magazine. Her single 'Streets of Heaven' achieved the best result, reaching 18th place in the hit parade in 2003.
Country Music Career
Moving to Nashville, Tennessee, Sherry tried her hand at country music. She signed her first contract with the label 'Arista Nashville,' and in 1997, her album 'Words' was released. The singles 'Lucky in Love' and 'Put Your Heart into It' reached the "Top 40" country charts, both peaking at 34th place. Her second and final album under the 'Arista' label, titled 'Love in the Real World,' was released in 1999. The song 'Never Been Kissed' reached 29th place on the charts.
Independent Career
Austin's third release, 'Followin' a Feelin',' became available on March 20, 2001, thanks to a contract with 'Madacy Entertainment.' Later, the Australian artist started working with the independent label 'Broken Bow Records.' Her fourth country music album, 'Streets of Heaven,' was presented on August 12, 2003. Following the success of the title track, which climbed to 18th place on the American country chart, another single, a cover of Dusty Springfield's 'Son of a Preacher Man,' was released, although it was not included in the album's tracklist.
Writing Collaborations and Acting
Sherry became a co-writer of Daniel Peck's 2007 single 'Bad for Me,' the title track of Blake Shelton's 2008 album 'Startin' Fires,' and George Strait's 2009 song 'Where Have I Been All My Life,' among others. As an actress, Austin last made a statement in 1991, appearing in an episode of the TV series "Beverly Hills, 90210" and the film "An American Summer."
