Early Life and Ancestry
Born in Romania, Rabbi Yaakov Margi inherited a lineage of distinguished rabbinical heritage. His grandfather, Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna, and great-grandfather, Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov of Husi, were both esteemed leaders in their communities.
Immigration to Israel
In 1960, Rabbi Margi immigrated to Israel. He pursued his rabbinical studies at the Vizhnitz Institute for Talmudic Studies, receiving his rabbinical ordination (smicha).
Political Career
Rabbi Margi's political involvement began with his membership in the Central Committee of the Agudat Israel party. He also served as a member of the party's International Executive Committee. He has been elected to six terms as a Knesset member, representing Agudat Israel.
Personal Life
Rabbi Margi resides in Bnei Brak, a suburb of Tel Aviv. He is married and has six children. In addition to Hebrew, he is fluent in Yiddish, German, and Romanian.
