Early Life and Education
Cellou Dalein Diallo, a Guinean politician, was born to a Fula family and raised in Guinea. He graduated from Gamal Abdel Nasser University in Conakry and the Center for Financial, Economic, and Banking Studies in Paris, France.
Political Career
Diallo began his political career in 1996 as Minister of Transport, Telecommunications, and Tourism. He later served as Minister of Infrastructure (1997-1999) and Minister of Public Works and Transport (1999).
Prime Ministership
In December 2004, Diallo was appointed Prime Minister of Guinea, a position he held until April 2006. He coordinated economic activities and managed the economic portfolio as part of his responsibilities.
Presidential Elections
In 2010, Diallo ran for President of Guinea and secured a significant lead in the first round with 39.72% of the votes. He advanced to the second round against Alpha Condé, who received 20.67%. However, Condé emerged victorious in the runoff, defeating Diallo with a 52.52% majority. Diallo contested the election results, but Condé declared victory.
