Biography of Sierra Sandison
Sierra Sandison is an American beauty pageant winner and participant, who gained the title and crown of Miss Idaho. Despite being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Sierra did not let the disease hinder her dreams and she courageously and resiliently fights this formidable condition.

Early Life
Sierra Sandison, aged 20, resides in the state of Idaho, USA, which is where her journey in the beauty pageant world began. In 2012, Sierra was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, which became a significant tragedy for both her and her family. However, life continued and she soon became accustomed to monitoring her blood sugar levels and using an insulin pump, a specialized medical device that continuously monitors and administers insulin subcutaneously.

Miss Idaho
With her slender figure, striking features, gorgeous chestnut hair, and captivating smile, Sierra dreamed of participating in beauty pageants. However, diabetes, which disrupted her life plans, nearly destroyed those aspirations. Nevertheless, Sierra found inspiration in Nicole Johnson, Miss America 1999, who also had diabetes. Encouraged by Nicole's success, Sierra decided to give it a try, and in July 2014, she became one of the contestants vying for the title and crown of Miss Idaho at the pageant held in Atlantic City. Naturally, her insulin pump was visible, unable to be concealed beneath form-fitting dresses, especially during the bikini segment. Instead of hiding it, Sierra confidently showcased her pump, attached to her swimsuit. She surpassed nineteen other contestants to win the title of Miss Idaho in the final round. This achievement gained significant attention from American and international media outlets.

Inspiration and Advocacy
Unsurprisingly, Sierra faced accusations of exploiting her illness and using diabetes as a means to attract attention. However, she also inspired many, particularly young individuals with diabetes, who suddenly realized that their insulin pumps were not something to be ashamed of or constantly conceal. Sierra received an overwhelming amount of letters and support from grateful fans, and she herself was overwhelmed by the sudden popularity thrust upon her. She also became the founder of a unique community of individuals with insulin pumps, who proudly display them and now recognize each other from afar. Insulin pumps have become a symbol of belonging to this social group, and this unity has inspired many. Meanwhile, the beauty from Idaho, Sierra Sandison, is preparing to participate in the national beauty pageant, where experts believe she has a very good chance of winning.
