Early Life and Career
Simon McCoy was born in Hammersmith and studied in Sherborne. He took his first steps in the field of journalism at the Fleet Street News Agency in London. In 1983, Simon joined Thames TV, initially working as a researcher and then transitioning to become a scriptwriter and editor.
Work at Sky and BBC
In 1988, Simon moved to Sky and worked as a producer for the morning program 'Sunrise' before becoming a general reporter. From 1991 to 1996, he served as the royal correspondent, covering all stories related to the royal family.
Simon then returned to the 'Sunrise' project and also took on hosting duties for the talk show 'Tonight.' In 2003, he became one of the regular observers of the situation in Kuwait and Basra during the Iraq War, reporting for five hours a day. In January 2004, Simon joined BBC, initially working as a presenter-analyst for BBC Breakfast and BBC News 24.
In September 2005, he took over the morning segment of BBC News, replacing the unexpectedly departing Phillip Hayton. Although Simon stopped appearing regularly on BBC Breakfast in 2006, he continued to be part of BBC Weekend News.

Simon McCoy has had some memorable moments during his career. On March 9, 2012, he was caught dozing off during a project. Despite his denial of falling asleep, he became the subject of jokes from viewers.
On June 7, 2013, Simon covered Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Broadcasting House for the official opening of the new news studio, the largest in Europe. He was also part of the team covering the birth of Prince George of Cambridge, spending a significant amount of time at the hospital, often expressing his frustration with the lack of new information.
In one of his shows on BBC News, Simon intended to discuss hangover cures with viewers, using his trusty iPad as a demonstration tool. However, he mistakenly grabbed a stack of papers instead. Despite realizing his mistake, Simon had to continue with what he had, facing more jokes from viewers.
Simon McCoy has been married twice. He had a son from his first marriage and married Victoria Graham from BBC South West on September 28, 2007, for the second time.
