Early Career

Simone Inzaghi, an Italian footballer and current head coach of Lazio, began his professional career in 1993 with his hometown club Piacenza. After gaining some experience in his debut season, he was loaned out to semi-professional club Carpi where he played 9 games.

Rise to Prominence

In subsequent seasons, Inzaghi honed his skills at Novara (Serie D), Lumezzane, and Brescello before returning to Piacenza in 1998. The 1998/99 season proved pivotal for him as he scored 15 goals in 30 games. His impressive performances caught the attention of Lazio, who signed him for the following season.

Glory Days at Lazio

In his first season with Lazio, Inzaghi excelled, scoring 7 goals in 22 Serie A matches and 9 goals in 11 UEFA Champions League games, including an incredible four-goal haul against Marseille. Lazio emerged victorious in all three major Italian competitions that season: the Serie A title, the Italian Cup, and the Italian Supercup.

International Debut and Loans

In 1999/2000, Inzaghi also made his debut for the Italian national team in a match against Spain. He later went on loan to Sampdoria in 2004, but returned to Lazio the following season. However, his playing time decreased significantly, and he eventually moved to Atalanta in search of more opportunities.

Return to Lazio and Coaching Career

Inzaghi returned to Lazio once again in 2008/09 and scored his first goal since 2004 against Lecce. He retired from professional football in 2010. After his playing days, Inzaghi transitioned into coaching, starting as the youth team coach of Lazio. He has since been appointed as the club's head coach in 2021.

Personal Life

Simone Inzaghi is married to fashion model and actress Alessia Marcuzzi, with whom he has a son named Tommaso. His older brother Filippo is also a renowned footballer and former World Cup winner.
