Early Life and Education

Sopubek Begaliev, a prominent statesman and public figure in Kyrgyzstan, was born in Chon Tash, Chui Oblast, Kyrgyz SSR. In 1954, he graduated from the Plekhanov Moscow Institute of National Economy.

Early Career in Government

Begaliev's career in government began in 1954 when he joined the State Planning Committee of the Kyrgyz SSR as an economist. He rose through the ranks quickly, being appointed Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Committee in 1960 and Deputy Head of the Department of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan in 1961.

Key Government Positions

In 1962, Begaliev became Minister of Local Economy of the Kyrgyz SSR, and in 1963, he assumed the role of Minister of Communal Economy of the Kyrgyz SSR. He was later appointed First Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Committee in 1964.

In 1991, Begaliev was invited to serve as an economic advisor to Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev on issues related to Central Asian republics. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, he became an economic advisor to the State Committee of Kyrgyzstan on Economy.
