Life and Career of Stanislav Kondratievich Belov
Early Life and EducationStanislav Kondratievich Belov, a renowned graphic artist from Omsk, was born on May 24, 1937, into a family of renowned Siberian artists. His father, Kondraty Petrovich Belov, was a celebrated landscape painter.
From 1955 to 1961, Belov pursued his artistic education at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow, specializing in film art. Under the tutelage of notable instructors such as F.S. Bogorodsky, Yu.I. Pimenov, and M.A. Bogdanov, he developed his exceptional skills. For his diploma project, he created evocative set designs based on V. Zarubin's novel "Two Worlds."
Artistic Career
Upon graduating from VGIK in 1961, Belov returned to Omsk and began his career as an art director at the local television studio. He subsequently joined the Omsk State Pedagogical Institute as a senior lecturer in the Department of Painting and Drawing.
Belov became a candidate member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1962 and a full member in 1964. In 1971, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.
Education and Leadership
Belov's expertise in art extended beyond his own practice. In 1976, he became the head of the Department of Painting at Omsk State Pedagogical Institute. He also served as a delegate to the IV Congress of the Artists' Union of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) and the V Congress of the Artists' Union of the USSR.
In 1987, Belov was promoted to the rank of Professor. From 1981 to 1985, he held the position of Chairman of the Board of the Omsk branch of the Artists' Union of the RSFSR.
Awards and Recognition
Belov received numerous awards for his artistic talent. In 1972, he won the 2nd prize of the Central Committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (VLKSM) for his series "On Peaceful Land." He was also honored with the "Excellent Worker of Education of the USSR" badge in 1987.
Legacy and Impact
Stanislav Kondratievich Belov is widely recognized as a founding father of the Department of Art and Graphics at Omsk State Pedagogical Institute, alongside artist Alexei Nikolaevich Liberov. He also played a pivotal role in establishing two prominent art museums in Omsk, honoring the legacies of Liberov and his own father, Kondraty Petrovich Belov.
Belov's untimely demise on August 28, 1989, left a profound void in the Omsk art community. He is laid to rest in the Old Northern Memorial Cemetery.
Personal Facts
Aside from his artistic accomplishments, Belov's family lineage holds great significance. In Omsk, four artists share the surname Belov. However, Vladimir Nikitich and Sergei Alexandrovich are not related to Kondraty Petrovich and Stanislav Kondratievich, who are father and son respectively.
