Reverend Stanisław Kubista

Early Life and War Service

Stanisław Kubista was born in Poland and became a priest of the Verbist order. He served in the French front during World War I.

Religious Vocation

After the war, Kubista joined the Verbist novitiate in Austria. In 1926, he took monastic vows and was ordained a priest in 1927. He served in various capacities at the monastery in Gorna Grupa and taught at the local gymnasium.

Martyrdom in World War II

With the outbreak of World War II, Kubista was arrested by the Gestapo in October 1939. He was imprisoned in Gdansk and then transferred to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. He died there on April 26, 1940, bearing the concentration number 21154.

Literary Contributions

Publications

Kubista published in the Polish Catholic press and wrote a drama titled "Cross and Sun."

Beatification

On June 13, 1999, Pope John Paul II beatified Kubista with other Polish martyrs of World War II. His feast day is June 12.
