Early Life and Career
Born on September 11, 1938, in the city of Makeyevka in the Stalinskaya region, the son of a coal miner, he began his work in the Donbass mines in 1956 as a mining worker.
Education and Professional Development
In 1965, he graduated from the Kharkiv Engineering and Economics Institute as a mining engineer-economist. He subsequently worked as an economist and section chief at a coal mine. From 1969, he served as Deputy Director for Production and from 1973 as Director of the "Kommunist" mine.
Political Career
From 1974 to 1984, he held party positions, including First Secretary of the Khartsyz City Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (CPSU), a listener at the Academy of Social Sciences under the CPSU Central Committee, and Second Secretary of the Makeyev City Committee of the CPSU.
Senior Management Roles
In August 1984, he became the General Director of the "Makeevugol" association, and from 1985 to 1989, he served as the Head of the Donetsk Mining District Administration.
Government Service
In November 1989, he was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Ukraine for Supervision of Industrial Safety and Mine Supervision. In 1994, he was promoted to Chairman of the Committee. He retired in 2000.
International Recognition
He was President of the International Academy of Safety of Life.Death and Legacy
He passed away on December 16, 2006, and was buried in Kyiv at the Baikove Cemetery. In 2002, he was awarded the honorary citizenship of Khartsyzsk.
Awards and Honors
He was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner of Labour, medals, and departmental awards.
