Early Life and Education
Born in Ukraine, this Ukrainian politician and inventor graduated with honors from Chernelytska Secondary School in 1964. He went on to study electrical engineering at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute from 1964 to 1969, graduating with distinction. He earned a doctorate in technical sciences in 1987 and a doctorate in economic sciences in 1999.
Career
From 1969 to 1976, he worked at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute. From 1976 to 1990, he held various positions at the Lviv NPO "Micropribor."
In the 1990s, he entered politics and held several high-ranking positions, including Chairman of the Lviv Regional Council (1990-1991), First Deputy Chairman of the Lviv Regional Council (1991-1992), and Representative of the President in the Lviv Region (1992-1994).
From 1994 to 2005, he served as Head of the Lviv Regional Branch of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.
Political Involvement
He was a member of the National Rukh of Ukraine from 1989 to 2007 and the Big Council of NRU (1989-1990). In 2007, he joined the All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland."
He has served as a member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) since 2005, representing different electoral blocks and serving on various committees.
Scientific Contributions
As an inventor, he has authored or co-authored over 130 scientific works and holds 22 patents. He is a member of the Academy of Management and Entrepreneurship and the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine.
Family and Interests
He is married to Maria Ivanovna, a cardiologist, and has two children: Nazariy and Oksana. He is proficient in Polish and German and enjoys philosophy and psychology.
Recognition and Awards
He has been awarded the First Prize of the Academician Vavilov Prize (1982), the "Inventor of the USSR" badge (1980), and the title of "Honored Economist of Ukraine" (1997). He also received the Order "For Merits" of the III Degree in 2007.
