Arman Khachatryan is a distinguished Armenian statesman and politician who has held significant roles in shaping the political landscape of Armenia.
Education and Early Career
In 1978, Khachatryan graduated with honors from the H. Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical Institute. Following his studies, he pursued a multidisciplinary career as a director, prose writer, theater critic, and publicist. He became a member of the Union of Writers of Armenia, and his work gained recognition in literary circles.
Career in Television and Broadcasting
From 1978 to 1983, Khachatryan immersed himself in the world of television and broadcasting. He served as the director of the folk theater at the Razdan Regional House of Culture and taught at the secondary school in Akhavnadzor village. He later joined the Yerevan Telefilm Studio as an assistant director and subsequently became a literary employee and head of the prose department at the "Pioneer" magazine.
From 1983 to 1993, Khachatryan ascended the ranks at the State Television and Radio Company (GoTR), serving as an editor, department head, and ultimately becoming the editor-in-chief.
Leadership in Media and Culture
In 1993, Khachatryan's leadership qualities were recognized when he was appointed head of the Department of Dramatic Broadcasts and Deputy Chairman of GoTR. He continued to rise in prominence, serving as the Director General of the State Radio of Armenia from 1995 to 1996.
In 1997, Khachatryan's expertise in culture extended to the municipal level, where he became the Head of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs of the Yerevan Municipality.
Political Career
Khachatryan's entry into politics marked a significant chapter in his life. In 1999, he was elected as a Member of the National Assembly of Armenia, where he served on the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. He continued to represent the people as a Member of Parliament from 2003 to 2007, during which time he served on the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.
Party and Political Affiliation
Khachatryan is a prominent member of the "National Unity Party" (NUP) and has held leadership positions within the party. He currently serves as the Secretary of the NUP and is a member of its Political Council.
