Stephen Michael Gionta is an American ice hockey player currently playing for the National Hockey League team, the New Jersey Devils. He was born on October 9, 1983, in Rochester, New York. Gionta followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Brian Gionta, who also had a successful career in hockey.

Early Career
Stephen Gionta's professional career began with the Albany River Rats, the American Hockey League affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. It is worth noting that his older brother Brian also played for the New Jersey Devils during that time. Gionta made his debut in the AHL in the 2005-2006 season, and he quickly established himself as a key player for the team.

Professional Career
In the 2006-2007 season, Gionta played for the Lowell Devils, another affiliate team of the New Jersey Devils in the AHL.
