Early Life and Education
Stephen Mandel was born in the United States in 1955. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, graduating in 1974. In 1978, he obtained his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College. Mandel later pursued further studies at Harvard University.
Early Career
Mandel began his professional career as a consultant at Mars and Company, where he worked from 1982 to 1984. He then joined Goldman Sachs in 1984 as an analyst, staying with the company until 1990.
Lone Pine Capital
In 1990, Mandel joined Tiger Management as a portfolio manager and lead analyst. In 1997, he left to establish Lone Pine Capital, where he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and holds a controlling stake.
