Biography of Steve Martin
Steve Martin, born on August 14, 1945, in Waco, Texas, is an American actor, comedian, musician, writer, film producer, and screenwriter. He is widely known in Russia for his starring roles in films such as "The Pink Panther," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," "Father of the Bride," "Shopgirl," and "Planes, Trains and Automobiles."

Early Life and Career
Steve Martin was born into a Baptist family and grew up in California. His father was a real estate salesman and amateur actor. One of Martin's earliest childhood memories was watching his father serve drinks as an extra on stage. Although his father expressed his love for him through gifts, Martin described their relationship as emotionally distant.

At the age of 10, Martin started selling guidebooks at Disneyland on weekends and during summer vacations. He became interested in magic tricks and illusions and spent his free time at a magic shop, where he honed his skills and learned to juggle. After graduating from high school, he studied drama and English poetry at Santa Ana College and performed in local theater groups. He then transferred to California State University, Long Beach, where he initially pursued philosophy.

In 1967, Martin returned to theater and transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where his relationship with aspiring actress Stormie Sherk ended due to the distance between them. During this time, Martin began performing in nightclubs and eventually dropped out of college at the age of 21.

Rise to Fame
Steve Martin gained fame in the mid-70s as a stand-up comedian with his unique and absurd comedy routines. His appearances on television shows, such as "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" and "The Tonight Show," quickly attracted a large audience. In 2004, Comedy Central ranked Martin as the 6th greatest stand-up comedian of all time.

While achieving success as a stand-up comedian, Martin also ventured into acting. He landed his first small role in the comedy film "Another Nice Mess" in 1972. Over the years, he has appeared in more than fifty roles in film and television. Some of his most beloved films include "Roxanne," a contemporary adaptation of Edmond Rostand's play "Cyrano de Bergerac," and "Shopgirl," a romantic drama in which Martin's character loses out to a younger rival.
In 2013, Steve Martin received an honorary Oscar in recognition of his contributions to the entertainment industry. Despite being considered one of the best actors, he had never been nominated for an Academy Award before.
Personal Life
Steve Martin has had several high-profile romances and two marriages. His first marriage to actress Victoria Tennant lasted eight years before ending in divorce in 1994. In July 2007, after three years of dating, Martin married writer and journalist Anne Stringfield. In December 2012, at the age of 67, Martin became a father for the first time.
It is not widely known that Steve Martin is a member of Mensa, an organization for people with a high IQ.

In recent years, Steve Martin has focused on his television career. He starred in the comedy series "Only Murders in the Building," playing a character who is an actor known for his detective roles.
