Stephen Assanti: A Struggle with Obesity
Stephen Assanti, an overweight American, sought help from qualified specialists to address his weight issues. Unfortunately, he was unable to fully utilize the services of the doctors as his inability to control himself led to his expulsion from the clinic, triggered by a shocking incident. No one who knew him doubted that Stephen Assanti needed help. The 33-year-old man weighed around 360 kilograms and clearly couldn't lose weight on his own. Assanti himself realized that he could only regain his shape with the help of professionals, and he managed to find a suitable clinic and enroll in a treatment program. Initially, everything went well, and within a few months, Stephen managed to shed 9 kilograms. However, Assanti's treatment was abruptly halted when he violated the clinic's rules. The treatment process involved a very strict diet, but Stephen chose a surprising and clearly deliberate way to break it – by ordering pizza to his room. Needless to say, the hospital staff reacted negatively to such a violation of the dietary regimen, although some might argue that the reaction was overly severe. The doctors declared that such behavior was absolutely unacceptable, and the rebellious patient couldn't escape with just a warning, reprimand, or even a fine. Assanti had to leave the hospital before the designated time with no hope of continuing his treatment. Stephen Assanti himself is well aware of how unhealthy his behavior is. He understands that his eating habits need to be corrected, as his addiction has already become a formal illness. Initially, Assanti was supposed to stay in the hospital until his weight decreased to 250 kilograms, after which he would have undergone a gastric bypass surgery. What will happen to Assanti now is completely unclear. His father, Steven Veilette, cannot take his son home, but he has no other solutions to the situation. Veilette admits that he is in a hopeless situation and has no idea who to turn to. If Assanti returns home, he will not only have to solve a whole range of technical problems – for instance, even climbing stairs will be a very difficult task given his weight – but he will also face difficulties because he will most likely return to his previous eating habits and quickly regain the weight he had struggled to lose. In the meantime, his father has placed him in the trunk of a jeep, as living in the car is the only option until a proper solution is found. Other hospitals may seem like an optimal solution, but even here, things are not so simple. One hospital has already refused Assanti and Veilette, but other doctors may show more understanding. Assanti's story has already attracted public attention thanks to the media representatives. Recently, Assanti personally thanked everyone who supported him on his Facebook page. He expressed hope that he would be able to share some good news with his supporters in the near future. Interestingly, Assanti also thanked his opponents. He received many negative comments on social media, but he now claims that they were somewhat beneficial, as they taught him how to better handle criticism. Speculating on Assanti's future is currently pointless. Perhaps he will find a hospital willing to continue working with him, but unfortunately, it is not easy to hope that Stephen will finally be able to take control of himself and gather the willpower to fight his excess weight. The hospital staff from which Stephen Assanti was expelled refuses to officially comment on the situation.
