The stepfather had booked the ticket under the name Adam West. Instead of paying the hefty fee, Adam discovered that getting a new passport with the surname West would only cost him £103. So, he and his girlfriend, 17-year-old India Lomas, decided to fly to Ibiza with Adam's officially changed surname.
Ryanair's Controversy and Adam's Experience
Ryanair, the airline company, stated that in addition to the £110 fee, Adam would have to pay an equal amount for separate ticket booking made by his girlfriend. These rates were implemented by Ryanair to deter scalpers who profit from reselling tickets. The company has faced criticism in the past for its low fares but high charges for additional services. It introduced a fee of £75 for checked baggage and £45 for airport baggage in an effort to increase revenue.
In April 2015, Ryanair announced that the average flight ticket cost would decrease by 15% over the next two years. However, it was mentioned that the new aircraft introduced would have more cramped conditions for passengers. Michael O'Leary, CEO of Ryanair, stated that the average flight cost could be as low as £26 in the following year.

The company offers a 24-hour grace period to rectify minor errors. The name correction fee is imposed to prevent unauthorized online travel agencies from tracking the cheapest Ryanair fares and reselling tickets at exorbitant prices.
As part of their "Always Getting Better" improvement program, Ryanair has reduced fees for baggage, sports equipment, airport check-in, and waived departure taxes. The company aims to continue enhancing the travel experience for their 100 million customers.
