Early Life and CareerSteve Bloomer was born on January 20, 1874, in Cradley Heath, Staffordshire, England. He began his football career playing for Derby County in 1892, where he started with a weekly salary of 37 and a half pence. Bloomer quickly became known for his goal-scoring abilities and went on to play for Middlesbrough as well. He also represented the national team of England, scoring a total of 28 goals in 23 matches.

Bloomer is considered one of the greatest football players in English history. He was known for his exceptional skills and was recognized as the best player in the country during his time. He won the title of Best Goal Scorer in the English Championship multiple times and was a key player in the success of Derby County, winning six British championships and the FA Cup in 1903.

Although Bloomer's name has been forgotten outside of England, he is still revered as one of the brightest stars in the history of football in his home country. When experts were asked to choose the greatest player in the history of English football, Bloomer ranked sixth.
