Susan Arnold is the former President of the Global Personal Beauty Care and Feminine Care division of Procter & Gamble. She was appointed to this position in 2002, where she was responsible for setting the strategy, product development, marketing, and revenue management for a multi-billion-dollar business. The Global Personal Beauty Care and Feminine Care division includes skincare, personal hygiene products, deodorants, cosmetics, fragrances, and feminine hygiene products. Susan held this position for several years, overseeing thousands of employees and managing sales in international markets.
Susan began her career at Procter & Gamble over 20 years ago. She joined the company in 1980 in the laundry and cleaning products sector in the United States. Over the next decade, she advanced through various marketing positions and eventually moved to Canada in 1990, where she led the cosmetics division of P&G. In 1993, Susan became the General Manager for deodorants in the United States and was promoted to Vice President in 1996. In July 1999, she was appointed as the President of the Global Personal Beauty Care division, making her the first woman to hold this position in the P&G line.
Susan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and later earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980. Her achievements include being recognized as a leading marketing specialist by Advertising Age magazine and receiving the "One of 21 to Watch in the 21st Century" award in 2000.
In 2004, Susan Arnold became the first woman to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Board at P&G. She led the Beauty division, which included the integration of the Gillette brand line, specializing in personal hygiene. In April 2006, she took on additional responsibilities for oral care, health care, and pharmaceutical business. Together, P&G Beauty and Health generate an annual revenue of $30 billion. Susan has been listed in The Wall Street Journal's "50 Women to Watch" in 2004 and 2005 and has been included in Fortune Magazine's "50 Most Powerful Women in Business" since 2002.
P&G is a highly influential company and has been featured in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the past six years. An exemplary effort in P&G's sustainable development is their philanthropic program called "Children's Safe Drinking Water," where they have provided consumers with 500 million liters of safe drinking water over the past three years.
