Early Life and Modeling CareerBorn to a Dutch-Jewish father who emigrated to Venezuela from Suriname and a Venezuelan mother, Susana Duijm first gained recognition as a professional model. On July 9, 1955, she triumphed in the Miss Venezuela pageant, representing the state of Miranda. Subsequently, on July 22 of the same year, she participated in the Miss Universe pageant, becoming a semi-finalist.
Miss World Victory
Duijm made history when she was crowned Miss World 1955 on October 20, representing Venezuela. As the first Latin American woman to win the prestigious title, her victory was celebrated in London, United Kingdom. Her reign as the reigning beauty queen paved the way for her to pursue a successful career in the entertainment industry.
Television and Acting Career
Duijm's success as Miss World opened doors for her to become both an actress and television host in Venezuela. She graced the screens of Venezuelan television, captivating audiences with her charisma and talent.

Following in her mother's footsteps, Susana Duijm's daughter, Carolina Ceruti, represented Venezuela in the Miss World 1983 pageant, which was held in London on November 17, 1983. While her journey did not reach the same heights as her mother's, Ceruti carried on the family tradition of vying for the coveted title.
